Retired U.S. Army Colonel Angela M. Odom led a heroic group of Adjutant Generalās Corps Soldiers on an extended 15-month deployment to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08. On October 10th, 2007, the Battalionās Forward Operating Base (FOB) was attacked resulting in numerous casualties and the loss of one of Odomās soldiers, Staff Sergeant Lillian L. Clamens. Just a few short weeks later, on Odomās birthday, November 28th, a stray round hit another of her soldiers while he was attending a USO show on the FOB; Sergeant First Class John J. Tobiason was killed instantly.
Odom revealed her candid account of her experience as the Battalion Commander of the 15th Personnel Services Battalion (PSB) in her book āBronco Strongā, which was released last year on Veteranās Day.
